In the fight over whether President Donald Trump is violating the Constitution’s ban on accepting gifts or payments from foreign states, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan has denied the U.S. Justice Department’s motion to dismiss Congressional Democrats’ claims that Trump, through his private business holdings, is allegedly violating the foreign emoluments clause in the Constitution, Marcia Coyle reports. Next, C. Ryan Barber reports, as U.S. Attorney General William Barr faced Senate Democrats on Wednesday, in preparation for a Thursday hearing, the House Judiciary Committee voted to allow Republican and Democratic staff to question the attorney general — just the move the DOJ warned would deter Barr from appearing. As predicted, hours after his Senate testimony, Barr announced he wouldn’t be showing up Thursday.
