Gordon Caplan, the suspended co-chairman of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, made his first appearance in Boston federal court Wednesday as did other parents alleged to have paid bribes to secure their children's admission into college. Joshua Levy of Ropes & Gray, who represents Caplan, told U.S. Magistrate Judge M. Page Kelley of the District of Massachusetts that his client waived a preliminary conference. Next, the U.S. Justice Department argues in a new court filing that a federal judge's reinstatement of an Obama-era pay data disclosure rule will create challenges for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and require the modification of deadlines imposed on employers to retroactively collect pay data.
